Here you will find a variety of examples, displaying what’s going on. This also displays our strategy, showing how we will accomplish our mission.

Attract People to Christ

May people are needed to do their part – and when it comes to drawing close to God, there are NO small parts! All that we do should create an experience of God’s love that will draw people to Jesus.

Examples:

  • Pray for the church to be powerful and effective
  • Invite a friend to worship with you.
  • Serve as a greeter on Sunday morning
  • Help care for children in the nursery (screening is required for safety)
  • Help the office staff prepare for Sunday – bulletins, media, cleaning buildings and property…
  • Be a helper at special Day Care events (feasts and festivals – they’re fun!)
  • Sing in the choir or join the band
  • Tell others what Jesus means to you
  • Take the “Becoming True Disciples” course

Attach People to Christ

You can help the church become family – and grow spiritually! By participating and by serving in these ways, we help each other become like Jesus.

Examples:

  • Join the 10:15 Adult Sunday School class
  • Become part of a small group
  • Take Disciple Bible Study –link (an introductory, 32-week overview of the Bible)
  • Spend daily devotional time with God
  • Read The Purpose-Driven Life, and discuss it in a group!
  • Attend quarterly Administrative Council meetings, which begin with covered-dish dinner and celebrates God’s working our church
  • Teach children in the Sunday School
  • Help out at Vacation Bible School
  • Help build bridges between the Church and our Day Care families.
  • Become trained to be a “True Pastor” of the congregation
  • Phone call members and friends of the church each month
  • For those in recovery from addiction who want a Christ-centered support group: come to “True Freedom” a weekly 12-step meeting.

Becoming Active in Christ

As followers of Jesus, we “do everything as though serving the Lord” – whether in ministry or in daily living. This lists just a few of the many many ways to serve Christ in the world:

Examples:

  • See all of the above for ways to serve Jesus in the church, so our mission can be accomplished in the world
  • Serve as an ambassador of Christ by helping people beyond the church, for instance,
      • Downtown Daily Bread (soup kitchen)
      • Middletown Food Pantry
      • Morningstar Pregnancy Center
      • CROP Walk
  • Support the Church with financial gifts
  • Take a class or financial management and budgeting seminar for your household
  • Help serve at one-time events that promote fellowship – Chicken BBQ, Peach Festival, Easter Egg making…
